När jag kollade omkring på Amazon efter min Shaun Tan-förälskelseperiod dök (barnboks)författaren Oliver Jeffers upp som tips. Glömde honom halvt, men när jag gick inom biblioteket och hittade tre av hans bilderböcker satte jag mig ned med dem och älskade varenda berättelse. Verkligen älskade! Sådan charm alltså! Hej, ny favorit! Nyfiken på mer? Ja. Vill äga? Definitivt.

Lola and the Boy Next Door av Stephanie Perkins. 113 krJag var aldrig eld och lågor över Anna and the French Kiss utan gillade den ganska så måttligt jämfört med många andra. Är däremot mycket mer sugen på den här fristående fortsättningen om Lola (och Cricket). Vill-jättegärna-ha.

Tycker om hur morbid och hårresande mörk den var. (Kan väl ha berott på att det var under en höstkväll jag läste den.) Och den här illustrerade utgåvan ser helt fantastisk ut. Måste kolla upp Gris Grimly misstänker jag.

The Magus av John Fowles. 113 krÄr överdrivet förtjust i just det här omslaget av The Magus. Och jag gillar beskrivningen av handlingen starkt. Dramatiskt och hemlighetsfullt är sådant som jag tycker väldigt mycket om. Tog mig dock pinsamt lång tid att inse att Illusionisten (som boken heter på svenska) inte hette The Illusionist på originalspråk.

The Land of Stories: The Wishing Spell av Chris Colfer. 107 krChris Colfer, mest känd för sin roll som Kurt Hummel i succéserien Glee, skriver en barnbok! Det var nog en av förra årets större överraskningar för mig, och sedan den nyheten kom har jag varit extremt nyfiken. Gillar att den i viss mån framkallar vibbar från Maud Mangolds Landet innanför-serie, som länge var en av mina personliga favoriter.

Me and Earl and the Dying Girl av Jesse Andrews. 113 krHypad, much? De flesta verkar älska boken, och det tror jag med att jag skulle kunna göra. Ett av årets snyggaste omslag har den i alla fall, det kan jag säga. Att folk dessutom liknar den med John Green ser jag som en positiv (om än i mer säljande syfte) grej.

Cracked Up to Be av Courtney Summers. 76 krSedan jag läste ut This is Not a Test av Summers tidigare i juli har jag inte kunnat släppa hennes språk. Hon kan sin sak när det kommer till att beskriva känslor och få dem att kännas trovärdiga, oavsett om karaktärerna i sig är obotligt egoistiska. Den här boken är den som lockar mig mest av hennes.
Perfect Parker Fadley isn't so perfect anymore. She's quit the cheerleading squad, she's dumped her perfect boyfriend, and she's failing school. The Forsaken av Lisa M. Stasse. 113 krOmslaget, människor - omslaget! Sådär duktig skulle jag också vilja vara, för snacka om kreativ förmåga. Hur som helst läste jag handlingen och kan säga att den inte verkar alldeles dålig utan snarare väldigt bra. Okej, inte för att den känns särskilt originell. Och ännu en dystopisk trilogi, men ändå!

(the super-country that was once Mexico, the U.S., and Canada), Alenna learned at an early age to blend in and be quiet--having your parents taken by the police will do that to a girl. Önskar väl att någon ska köpa den åt mig.. Struntar fullkomligt i att jag redan har tre exemplar av Alice i Underlandet för här snackar vi Lewis Caroll + Tove Jansson = gjort för succé!

Tree of Codes av Jonathan Safran Foer. 254 krDen här titeln har stått på min önskelista sedan jag läste Extremt högt och otroligt nära förra året. Det här är ett bevis på bokkonst i all sin glans, och jag kan inte bli annat än mäkta imponerad. Herre-jisses. Att den är dyr så att det svider för att vara en lagom tjock skönlitterär bok är en helt annan femma.

The Scorpio Races av Maggie Stiefvater. 79 krDet här är den bok av Stiefvater jag är mest benägen till att köpa, dels på grund av omslaget och dels för att jag fått höra så goda ting om hennes poetiska språk. Är ganska svag för fina formuleringar och handlingen känns lagom säregen.

A Sky Full of Kindness av Rob Ryan. 162 krÖnskar mig denna lika mycket som den ovan. Rob Ryan verkar vara min slags kreativa författare!

Stealing Parker av Miranda Kenneally. 62 krDet förvånar mig inte alls att Miranda Kenneally ännu en gång satsar på att skriva en bok som utspelar sig i sportmiljö, och jag tycker faktiskt att det känns ganska fräscht att läsa YA-böcker i sådan här miljö. Är definitivt sugen på att läsa den här, trots att hennes Catching Jordan inte övertygade mig helt.

Jag beundrar på många sätt Joseph Gordon-Levitt, både som skådespelare och som person. (Även om många kanske skulle vilja påstå att det är lite samma sak.) Och jag gillar hans projekt HitRecord, så då är det kanske inte särskilt märkligt att jag önskar mig de här två - till synes kreativt utformade - böckerna till vänster.
Beskrivningen av boken är också fantastisk: The universe isn't made of atoms; it's made of tiny stories.
The Tales of Beedle the Bard av J.K. Rowling. 69 krHarry Potter-träsket som sagt. The Tales of Beedle the Bard är nog också den bok-i-en-bok som lockat mig mest, till skillnad från de två tidigare utgivna Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them och Quidditch Through the Ages som får mig att vilja gäspa innan jag ens läst klart första stycket.

An Abundance of Katherines av John Green. 113 krSamlar, som tidigare nämnt, på John Greens böcker just nu. Trots att jag hört blandat om An Abundance of Katherines måste jag säga att jag dras till handlingen. Personligen tycker jag att det här omslaget är det snyggaste av de tre befintliga.

Tales from Outer Suburbia av Shaun Tan. 129 krDet här är min solklara favorit av alla Tans böcker som jag läst, och jag rekommenderar den till er alla! Noveller och bilder i ett, som är ett måste i åtminstone min bokhylla. En inbunden version dessutom så att jag kan älska den litet längre.
An exchange student who's really an alien, a secret room that becomes the perfect place for a quick escape, a typical tale of grandfatherly exaggeration that is actually even more bizarre than he says... These are the odd details of everyday life that grow and take on an incredible life of their own in tales and illustrations that Shaun Tan's many fans will love.
Eating Animals av Jonathan Safran Foer. 65 krMatindustrin är enorm, och jag har ingen vidare koll på den. Men nyfiken är jag absolut, även om just denna handlar mer om industrin i USA. Det känns som om boken har något att förmedla och det intresserar mig att det finns människor som blivit veganer/vegetarianer efter att ha läst Eating Animals. Vet dock ej om jag ska köpa den på svenska för lathetens skull..

Andra halvan får vi läsa om samma händelser en gång till, nu ur kvinnans perspektiv – där tappade jag lusten. Läsa samma sak två gånger är inte riktigt min grej. Men gillade den ändå lite smått av någon anledning… | Har du sett filmen, filmtokig som du är?
Nä, den vi såg i skolan hade några år på nacken, är förmodligen den. Har för mig den fångade dunklet i boken rätt bra men alltid knepigt med inre monologer på film, minns inte hur de lyckades med det. Nu när jag tänker efter minns jag inte särskilt mkt från filmen - jag var nog trött när vi såg den.
